Don't forget to refresh regularly for latest updates.

Full-time: South Africa 36 (Aphiwe Dyantyi 2, Willie LeRoux, Cheslin Kolbe & Malcolm Marx tries; Handre Pollard four conversions & penalty) New Zealand 34 (Rieko Ioane 2,
Jordie Barrett, Aaron Smith, Codie Taylor & Ardie Savea tries; Beauden Barrett two conversions)

Perhaps the telling stat of the game - All Blacks scored six tries to South Africa's five, but Barrett converted just two and Pollard had one miss.

80th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 34
NZ laying seige, the ball eventually comes right and as McKenzie looks to send Ben Smith away for the try, it's knocked out of his grasp.

South Africa have hung on for a famous victory and one that - frankly - the Rugby Championship needed.

80th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 34
Pollard clears from the scrum, but only 10 metres. All Blacks are back on the try-line, inching closer, but held up.

Five-metre scrum, All Blacks. Drop goal?

78th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 34
Coltman comes on for Taylor.

South Africa win a lineout, but Louw spills the ball and All Blacks have it. McKenzie makes a dab down the right, but the ball goes loose about three metres out.

Le Roux re-enters the game. Boks have a scrum on their own line with three minutes remaining.

75th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 34
TRY to Savea. All Blacks win the lineout and rumble to the line.

Savea has the ball and muscles his way over to score. Barrett has a conversion to level the scores - it hits the right upright and away.

Wow!

73rd minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
McKenzie flings the wall wide to Ioane - it looks forward - but when he's tackled, the Boks scramble the ball into touch.

Owens is playing advantage again, Barrett discusses the options with Read and kicks to touch for a lineout.

71st minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
South Africa win the scrum and Pollard clears to their 40.

70th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
All Blacks pressing again, McKenzie threatens out wide, but Tuipulotu is tackled short and there's another knock-on.

69th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
Boks defend well from the scrum, dragging Ioane into touch and then clearing from the quick lineout.

Savea comes on for Cane.

68th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
Goodhue makes a break down the left and finds Perenara streaking towards the line. He's tackled short and Ioane spills a pass under the posts.

But Owens has penalised the Boks for offside again and shows Le Roux a yellow card for cynical play.

Read takes a scrum under the posts.

66th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
All Blacks on attack again and look threatening, but Tuipulotu spills a pass and Jantjies clears.

64th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
Another penalty at the breakdown in midfield, still in the All Blacks half. Barrett kicks to touch again.

61st minute: South Africa 36 NZ 29
TRY to Taylor. Whitelock wins the lineout and roll a maul to the line.

Taylor is at the back and falls over to score. Awesome power and control from the All Blacks.

Barrett's conversion hits the left upright - it's a huge miss.

60th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 24
Tim Perry replaces Tu'inukuafe at prop.

Owens penalises South Africa for not rolling away from the tackle and Barrett kicks for the lineout. It finds touch five metres out.

58th minute: South Africa 36 NZ 24
Try to Dyantyi. OK, so the clearance didn't find touch and when it spread left, Jantjies makes a telling break and Dyantyi cuts off the side-line to score.

Pollard hooks the conversion. Goodhue is on for Leinert-Brown, Tuipulotu on for Squire (Scott Barrett moves to flanker) and McKenzie on for Jordie Barrett.

57th minute: South Africa 31 NZ 24
Springboks are hot on attack and Le Roux puts a kick through. The bounce is extremely kind to Beauden Barrett, who gathers it between two opponents and the All Blacks clear.

53rd minute: South Africa 31 NZ 24
TRY to Ioane. A much better scrum sets Read running left.

There's a big gap, but no-one to pass to. From the breakdown, the ball goes left again, and Ioane fends Kolbe and hugs the sideline to dive over in the corner.

Barrett converts from the side-line. He needed that.

52nd minute: South Africa 31 NZ 17
South Africa disrupt the scrum, but Owens has them for not driving square. Another scrum is set.

51st minute: South Africa 31 NZ 17
All Blacks win the lineout and lay seige. When they move it left, Jordie Barrett spills the ball, but Owens is playing advantage again and NZ take the scrum about five metres out.

Snyman is on for Etzebeth.

50th minute: South Africa 31 NZ 17
Barrett puts up a high kick for Ioane in the corner, but Le Roux claims it. Owens is playing advantage for offside and Barrett kicks to the corner for a lineout.

Perenara replaces Smitha at halfback.

48th minute: South Africa 31 NZ 17
All Blacks win a midfield penalty at the breakdown and Barrett kicks for touch.

Second-five Damian De Allende is struggling with a shoulder injury, so he's replaced by Elton Jantjies with Pollard moving out a spot.

Tuungafasi is on too, replacing Franks in the front row.

46th minute: South Africa 31 NZ 17
All Blacks have the ball on attack, but Smith is disrupted by opposite de Klerk as he tries to clear a ruck and South Africa have the scrum.

Tuungafasi is preparing to enter the game for NZ.

44th minute: South Africa 31 NZ 17
TRY to Kolbe. The half-time replacement pulls of an intercept with his first touch to run away for the try.

The All Blacks had won a penalty in midfield in their own half and Aaron Smith took a quick tap. As the ball spread wide, Kolbe was on hand to grab Taylor's pass.

Pollard converts and this is looking ominous.

Half-time: South Africa 24 (Aphiwe Dyantyi, Willie LeRoux & Malcolm Marx tries; Handre Pollard three conversions & penalty) New Zealand 17 (Jordie Barrett, Aaron Smith & Reiko Ioane tries; Beauden Barrett conversion)

NZ dominating possession and territory in that half, but the Springbok defence has been massive and they've made the most of their chances.

Apparently the All Blacks have never conceded that many points in the first half of a home test match, so the Boks have already made a bit of history. Can they finish the job?

40th minute: NZ 17 South Africa 24
All Blacks have the ball and are making progress, but Tu'inukuafe spills a pass and they're penalised in midfield.

Pollard lines up kick at goal from about 40 metres out and is successful. The players run to sheds for a cup of tea and sandwiches.

39th minute: NZ 17 South Africa 21
TRY to Ioane. All Blacks are stringing together phases in midfield, Ioane is set loose on the left, but can't find support inside.

Eventually, after 20 phases, the ball is flung back out to Ioane, who waltzes over unopposed in the corner. Owens played at least two advantages in that passage for SA offside.

Barrett's conversion is wide right and that's the difference right now - he's missed twice, Pollard no times.

33rd minute: NZ 12 South Africa 21
TRY to Marx. Mostert wins the lineout, the SA forwards push towards the line and Marx is the beneficiary at the back, peeling away for the touchdown.

Pollard converts and the All Blacks are under pressure now. South Africa have scored 21 straight points.

31st minute: NZ 12 South Africa 14
South Africa are hot on attack only five metres out, Ioane looks like he's turned the ball over, but the All Blacks are penalised. Pollard kicks to the corner - here comes a lineout drive.

Liam Squire is in trouble here - he was roughed up in an early ruck and hasn't regrouped.  He's back on his feet though, we'll have to watch that.

28th minute: NZ 12 South Africa 14
Tu'inukuafe bursts about 20 metres and Barrett puts a kick through to the line, with Crotty chasing. Le Roux touches it down.

26th minute: NZ 12 South Africa 14
TRY to Le Roux. Oh goodness, that was terrible!

All Blacks lose the ball in a breakdown, Dyantyi tries to kick ahead, but it goes into touch.

Jordie Barrett ties a quick, long throw-in to Ioane, but bounces short and sits up for Le Roux to snaffle and score.

Pollard converts and South Africa lead.

22nd minute: NZ 12 South Africa 7
Barrett's kick-off doesn't go 10 metres, but Kriel plays at it anyway - and knocks on. All Blacks scrum.

20th minute: NZ 12 South Africa 7
TRY to Dyantyi. South African are on attack inside the NZ 22 and end up with a one-man overlap, when Le Roux commits Jordie Barrett to the last tackle.

Pollard converts, so good response.

18th minute: NZ 12 South Africa 0
TRY to Aaron Smith. That was beautiful!

A lovely no-look pass from Codie Taylor finds Ben Smith at top speed and when he's challenged, Smith is waiting inside for the final pass. Superb!

Barrett curls this one inside the right post.

14th minute: NZ 5 South Africa 0
Springboks find touch from a penalty, but when they try to spread it wide, they turn the ball over under pressure. NZ scum, just inside SA half.

12th minute: NZ 5 South Africa 0
Read forces another turnover, Ben Smith makes good ground down the right and the forwards lay seige five metres out. They eventually knock on and Pollard tries to chip for his wing, but finds touch.

Owens comes back for a South African scrum in the shadow of their own posts.

Eighth minute: NZ 5 South Africa 0
The All Blacks dominate the first scrum of the game and then gain a turnover through Read, but Barrett's pass is behind Ioane and he knocks on.

Fifth minute: NZ 5 South Africa 0
Try to Jordie Barrett. From the lineout, the NZ backs make ground and Jordie is on brother Beauden's shoulder with space in front of him.

No-one is near him when he crosses for the try. Beauden is wide right with his conversion attempt.

Fourth minute: NZ 0 South Africa 0
NZ pounding away the South African defence, but Sam Cane spills a pass and the Boks clear.

Third minute: NZ 0 South Africa 0
Ref Nigel Owens awards a penalty against Etzebeth for offside at the breakdown. It's just inside the SA half, but the All Blacks kick for touch.

First minute: NZ 0 South Africa 0
Pollard kicks off for South Africa and it driblles over the dead-ball line, so NZ scrum on halfway.

*****

Great night in Wellington for rugby and the Cake Tin looks to have a nice crowd in for the game.

Kieran Read leads out the All Blacks for kick-off and national anthems... and of course, the haka.

Which haka will they do? It's Kamate, so they're keeping their powder dry tonight.

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live updates of the All Blacks vs Springboks clash from Wellington.

South Africa are the old rivals - probably New Zealand's traditional rugby foes over history, since we struggled to beat them for so long.

That hasn't really been the case lately, although these are two national programmes that are run under very different systems, and for all the grumbles and groans over the NZ model, it has serves us very well at all levels.

The Springboks are coming off a narrow loss to Australia last week, so that can't fill them with confidence, given the All Blacks' dominance of the Wallabies last month.

New Zealand are down a couple of key players though - Brodie Retallick and Joe Moody are missing from the pack, Sonny Bill Williams was a late scratching from the bench.
