Maria Folau's netball destination could be decided by future of Wallabies husband Israel Folau

Maria Folau's next netball destination is likely to be influenced by the rugby future of her husband.

Israel Folau is off contract at the end of 2018 while the Silver Ferns sharpshooter has been given clearance to play in Australia's Super Netball competition next year.

Maria Folau has been linked with the Giants, who are based in Sydney, which would signal a fresh deal for the Wallabies fullback at the Waratahs.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the Queensland Reds are interested in wooing Folau out of Sydney, which could see a Silver Ferns reunion with Laura Langman and Noeline Taurua at the Sunshine Coast Lightning for his wife.

The couple have shared a long distance relationship for three-years and both are keen to resume their athletic careers in the same state.

However Israel Folau told the Sydney Morning Herald that it's not necessarily set in stone that they will end up in similar locations.

"We'd both like to be in the same state. It would make things easier," Israel said.

"Being athletes, it doesn't always go that way.

"Her netball opportunities are limited and only for a short time, like most athletes. That's the best-case scenario but if it doesn't work that way, we've been doing it for the past three years and try to make the most of our time together. We'll adapt and go with it.

"She [Maria] enjoys Queensland and she loves it in Sydney as well."
