Canterbury secured a come-from-behind 34-23 win over Manawatu in their Mitre 10 Cup clash in Christchurch on Thursday.

The defending champions trailed 13-12 at halftime after the Turbos came out firing with their forward pack in the first 40 minutes, but Canterbury found their groove in the second half to claim a bonus-point win.

Reed Prinsep scored the game's opening try for Canterbury before the Turbos scored 13-straight points, thanks to a try to Liam Mitchell and two penalty goals from Sam Malcolm.

Greg Pleasants-Tate then scored for the hosts but it was unconverted, as Manawatu took a shock 13-12 lead into the break.

A try to Caleb Makene put Canterbury in front before first-five Brett Cameron scored a magical try in a man-of-the-match performance.

He got the ball on the halfway line and ran around the entire Turbos team to score. In total, Cameron scored 14 points.

Luke Romano scored Canterbury's fifth before Lifeimi Mafi scored a consolation try for the visitors.

It was Canterbury's third-straight win and they now travel to Albany to face North Harbour, while Manawatu face Northland in their next game.
