Canterbury have won their fourth consecutive Mitre 10 Cup game, with a convincing 31-21 win over North Harbour in Albany on Wednesday.
The win sees the defending champions jump to the top of the Premiership standings after five rounds of action, while Harbour are stuck at the bottom.
Canterbury raced out to a 14-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes, thanks to tries from hooker Nathan Vella and fullback George Bridge .
Harbour fought their way back into the encounter with two tries of their own, as outside backs Matt Duffie, and Shaun Stevenson scored for the hosts.
A scrum penalty on the half-time hooter saw Canterbury kick a penalty goal to take a 17-14 lead at the break.
The home side swung onto attack early in the second half, but a mistake saw Canterbury pounce on the counterattack to score their third try through Reed Prinsep.
Lock Mitchell Dunshea scored Canterbury's fourth to put the result beyond doubt in the last quarter.
Harbour had the last laugh, with Sione Teu scoring in the final 10 minutes, but there wasn't enough time left to mount a serious comeback.
Canterbury face Auckland - the only unbeaten side in 2018 - in a top-of-the-table clash in their game on Sunday at Eden Park.
Meanwhile, Harbour face championship side Bay of Plenty in Albany, also on Sunday.
