Hawke's Bay have snapped their two game losing streak in a come-from-behind 55-41 win over Northland in their Mitre 10 Cup clash in Napier on Wednesday.

A total of 14 tries were scored in the match, with Northland failing to capitalise on their 38-24 lead at the break. The Taniwha only scored three second half points.

Northland struggled to get near the try-line after the break as their attack was halted by some staunch and desperate defence by the Magpies - who scored five tries of their own in the second half.

The bonus point win secures Hawke's Bay second place on the Championship ladder in the Mitre 10 Cup, with Northland now six points back in third place.

Both teams are back in action on Sunday with Hawke’s Bay travelling south to face Canterbury, while Northland tackle Counties Manukau at Pukekohe.
