Hooker Issac Luke is not the only Warrior who could be headed to Newcastle for the 2019 NRL season with the Knights also reportedly interested in signing reserve halfback Mason Lino.

According to reports in Australia, the Knights have offered Lino a two-year deal with the Warriors granting the 24-year-old permission to speak to rival clubs.

Lino is contracted until the end of 2019 with the Warriors, but it's understood the New Zealand franchise are willing to release him to free up cap space.

Also, the two parties have spoken, nothing has been signed, and he could remain in New Zealand next season.

The Samoan international made his NRL debut in 2015 and has played 17 games for the Warriors - eight of those games were in the 2018 season filling in for Shaun Johnson or Blake Green.

"Mason's looking at his future, and our position is that he's got another year to go with us and at this stage, we're not looking further in terms of where we are at right now," Warriors chief executive Cameron George told Stuff.

"He's been so great for the club. Even though we're happy for him to have a chat with other clubs, he's a terrific kid.

"At this point in time, there's no decision to be made - he's simply been allowed to talk to other clubs if he wants to and see what interest is out there."

If Lino departs the club, it would mean Chanel Harris-Tavita would become the team's third half option.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are still waiting to hear if Luke will sign the reported one-year deal offered to him.

Luke's contract with the Warriors expired at the end of the 2018 NRL campaign and the club is believed to be struggling to fit him under its salary cap for next season. It's reportedly offered him just a one-year deal at a heavily reduced rate.

The 254-game veteran reportedly met with Knights coach Nathan Brown last week, during the Australian's visit with the All Blacks in Wellington.

Luke is due to undergo shoulder surgery next week, which will sideline him for most of the off-season.
