New Zealand crews have continued their strong start at the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria overnight (NZ time).

Defending champions Olivia Loe and Brooke Donoghue set the pace for the rest of the double-sculling fleet on day two to add to the positive Kiwi vibe heading towards the semi-finals and medal races.

The women's Four also clinched their spot in the semi-finals in a hard-fought contest in Plovidiv.

After an impressive start from the United States, Great Britain and China, Ellie Jeurissen, Georgia Perry, Phoebe Spoors and Ruby Tew surged in their last 500, placing third and securing the final qualifying spot in their heat.

Single sculler Hannah Osbourne placed third in her heat but was foced into a repechage race.
