WWE superstar Sheamus sends message of support to New Zealand Warriors ahead of NRL finals

The New Zealand Warriors journey to the NRL playoffs for the first time since 2011 has generated a sense of relief among the club's faithful, including WWE superstar Sheamus.

After six years of mediocrity, the Auckland based side came within two wins of a minor premiership title, only missing out on a home playoff through point's differential.

40-year-old Seamus (Stephen Farrelly), a passionate Liverpool supporter, is a huge fan of the 'Warrior Nation' after spending some time at the club as part of promotional tour in 2016.

The Irish native gifted the club with a replica WWE title belt at the time, receiving a box full of club merchandise in return.

Speaking to Newshub at WrestleMania 34 in April, Sheamus said he follows the club's results closely.

"They have had a great start to the season with five straight wins," Sheamus said.

"I really hope they can go all the way this year. I will be watching for sure."

With the Warriors just three straight wins away from a third NRL Grand Final appearance, Sheamus' wish may come true.

The former WWE champion sent a message of good luck to his favourite rugby league side.

"I want to congratulate the entire 'Warriors Nation' for making the NRL finals," Sheamus said.

"I'll be watching right here form the USA as you march all the way to the Grand Final.

"Lets gone Warriors."

Sheamus will be heading down under in just a few weeks when the WWE visits Melbourne for a huge stadioum event at the MCG.

WWE Super Show-Down is expected to be held in front of 80,000 fans.

The Warriors play the Penrith Panthers on Saturday evening in Sydney.

Catch WWE Super Show-Down  on the WWE Network on October 6.
