Cricket: Afghan Hazratullah Zazai joins select band of 'six-sixes' batsmen

Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai has become the third batsman to blast a perfect over of sixes during a T20 match, achieving his milestone in the Afghanistan Premier League.

Zazai opened the batting for Kabu Zwann, chasing the 245 runs recorded by Balkh Legends. West Indian Chris Gayle smashed 80 runs off 48 balls for Balkh.

But, in the fourth over, Zazai laid into Abdullah Mazari, putting on 37 runs that included a third-ball wide.

Soon afterwards, he brought up a 12-ball 50, equalling the record held by Gayle and Indian Yuvraj Singh.

Zazai's beligierence helped his team to 70 without loss in four overs, in good shape to challenge their huge target.

But his innings ended at 62 off 17 balls, when he was caught by Gulbadin Naib, off the bowling of Ben Laughlin, and Kabul were eventually restricted to 223/7 in their 20 overs - eight runs short.

Others to achieve the 'six-sixes' milestone are Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh and Ross Whiteley. The last two were in T20 format.

"It is a very enjoyable moment for me that my name is now linked to so many big names of the game, who are really legends of the game," said Zazai, 20, who recently made his international debut against Ireland.

"It was a surreal moment for me to perform in front of my idol [Gayle]. I was just trying to play my natural game and did not in any way think of outshining anyone."
