Golf: Lydia Ko catapults up leaderboard in Taiwan

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has jumped 20 places to sit into third after the second round at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship on Friday.

The 21-year-old fired superb round of six-under 66 to sit seven-under halfway through the tournament at the Ta Shee Golf and Country Club.

Ko's round consisted of seven birdies and one bogey

She started the round with three straight birdies before another two to close out a front-nine. Ko then birdied the 10th before her lone bogey on the next hole. But she redeemed herself with her sixth birdie on the 17th.

Ko is two strokes behind leader Wei-Ling Hsu. Hsu carded a flawless, bogey-free round to move to nine-under, one shot clear of overnight leader Jodi Ewart Shadoff.

Meanwhile, Ryan Fox carded a second straight two-under 70 at the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, China on Friday to sit in a tie for 13th after the second round.

The 30-year-old posted five birdies and three bogeys during his round.

He sits seven strokes behind leader, American Tony Finau with Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose all three shots back in second
