Kiwi shot-putter Tom Walsh will put his golfing skills to the ultimate test when he pairs with a New Zealand links legend this week.
On Wednesday, the Olympic champion will play alongside Sir Bob Charles at the Harewood Open, a pro-am tournament to be held in Christchurch.
Walsh is a keen golfer and plays off a very respectable handicap off 11. He featured in the pro-am field at last year's New Zealand Open in Queenstown, where he showcased his – somewhat predictably - powerful long-game.
He's even incorporated the sport into his athletics training, using a golf cart to retrieve his shots during practice.
Sir Bob is widely recognised as New Zealand's greatest ever golfer and one of the most successful left-handers in the history of the sport. The 82-year-old spent over five decades on the professional tour, winning more than 70 titles.
Other names on the roll for Harewood include five-time Japan Tour winner and former New Zealand Open Champion, David Smail alongside Fraser Wilkin, James Anstiss, Doug Holloway, Kieran Muir, Hayden Beard and Richard Lee.
