Full-time - Canterbury 21 (Mitch Drummond two tries; Brett Cameron three penalties & conversion) Tasman 16 ((David Havili try; Mitch Hunt conversion & three penalties)

80th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 21
The Canterbury pack are keeping the ball up their jumpers, just killing time until the final hooter - there it is.

Tasman are panelised and Cameron kicks for touch. That's the game - Canterbury are in their 10th final in 11 years and now have a chance of defending their title in next week's final.

They now await the winners of Auckland vs Canterbury in Saturday' second semi. Mitch Drummond is ajudged man of the match.

77th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 21
TRY to Drummond.
The defence had to break and it came out right, where Ennor was taken in a high tackle, but provides second-phase ball to Drummond.

The halfback puts a grubber kick through and regathers to score - that could be the game.

Cameron hooks the conversion left. Henare replaces Drummond.

74th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 16
Canterbury continue to exert pressure, but the Mako are tackling like devils. Phase after phase and eventually, Dunshea spills the ball.

72nd minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 16
Canterbury are attacking again and the ball comes right to Bridge, but he's tackled into touch. Desperate defence from Tasman.

70th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 16
Canterbury sweep onto attack and look threatening, but Jordan goes for the intercept and is yellow-carded for a deliberate knock-on. Tasman will be short-handed again for the final moments of regular time.

68th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 16
This has developed into a real wrestle now, with Tasman relinquishing their early advantage. Curry has restoried the Mako to full strength, but Canterbury can sniff victory.

64th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 16
TRY to Drummond.
The Canterbury scrum gains some ascendancy over a short-handed Tasman pack, but referee Fraser resets the scrum.

The second scrum is a repeat of the first and when Drummond gets the ball at the back, the Tasman loose forwards are committed to the push and not there to make the tackle.

Cameron slots the conversion and the scores are tied with 15 minutes left. Replays show Blackadder was actually held in the scrum, hence the big space for Drummond to run through.

59th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 9
Tasman steal an attacking lineout from Canterbury, but Jed Brown's clearance finds Bridge. Canterbury recycle the ball and McKay sprints towards the line.

The Mako defence is staunch and eventually Fraser awards a five-metre scrum to Canterbury. There's a suggestion they lost the ball forward - certainly the Tasman players thought so.

55th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 9
Romano charges towards the post and Makileo goes over the ruck - Romano doesn't realise and is penalised in the shadow of the goalposts.

Tasman clear. Canterbury replace their entire front row at once.

54th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 9
Canterbury kick for touch and begin to maul from the lineout. Curry is pinged for offside and shown a yellow card.

53rd minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 9
McKay lunges for the line out right, but is just tackled around the ankles by Christie. Canterbury draw a penalty advantage, but swarm to the line.

Cameron runs on an angle towards the line, but is flattened by Blackadder and Strange, and spills the ball. Fraser brings play back for the penalty.

51st minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 9
Crockett is replaced by current All Black Tim Perry in the front row and Parkinson has passed his head exam and returns.

50th minute - Tasman 16 Canterbury 9
From the lineout, Canterbury are penalised and Hunt slots from 40 metres out to restire the advantage.

48th minute - Tasman 13 Canterbury 9
Canterbury are trying to run the ball out of defence and Bridge is through a gap, but his long pass right is over McKay and into touch.

43rd minute - Tasman 13 Canterbury 9
Canterbury go hot on attack from the kick-off and win a penalty advantage of offside under the points.

Eventually, ref Mike Fraser calls play back for the penalty and Cameron slots the goal. Parkinson leaves the field with a head knock and Alex Ainley enters the game for Tasman.

Half-time - Tasman 13 (David Havili try; Mitch Hunt conversion & two penalties) Canterbury 6 (Brett Cameron two penalties)

40th minute - Tasman 13 Canterbury 6
After the hooter, Ennor splits the Tasman defence - it trickles into touch, but Canterbury have a penalty advantage for offside.

Cameron lines up the kick at goal and slots it to reduce the margin, heading into the break.

39th minute - Tasman 13 Canterbury 3
Tasman are on the front foot, pounding the Canterbury defence, and they eventually draw a penalty for not rolling away.

Hunt lines up the posts and slots the penalty to extend the lead.

35th minute - Tasman 10 Canterbury 3
TRY to Havili.
From the lineout, Makileo charges left and bumps off a defender.

Tasman are rolling towards the line and Hunt is tackled two metres out. Lomax is a metre short, but when the ball is recycled, Havili runs hard from depth and won't be stopped.

Hunt converts from near the posts.

33rd minute - Tasman 3 Canterbury 3
Tasman have popped the Canterbury front row in this scrum and earn the penalty. Hunt kicks for touch.

30th minute - Tasman 3 Canterbury 3
Bridge spills the ball backwards, but Tasman steal possession and win a penalty advantage. They continue to surge towards the 22 and eventually the advantage ends.

There were two high tackles from Canterbury in that movement, so Drummond is warned on behalf of his team.

Hunt lines up the penalty from 40 metres out in front and slots it.

27th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Crockett is emploring his scrum to put the pressure on Canterbury - this is a torrid forward battle.

25th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Canterbury are on attack again and Bridge tries a back-handed slip pass, but it's put down in midfield. Scrum Tasman. Bridge is looking for involvement in this game.

21st minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Moody is schooling Lomax in the scrum, but Canterbury is penalised for pushing early.

19th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3

Makene leaves the field for Canterbury with a leg injury - he's replaced by Punivai.

Bridge makes a break on the right, but his offload to Punivai is ruled forward.

18th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Hunt kicks long and the ball dribbles over the goal-line for a Canterbury dropout.

15th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Canterbury go on the attack, but Prinsep is penalised for not releasing in the tackle, so Tasman clear.

13th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Tasman have all the possession and territory right now. Canterbury have a defensive scrum, but Cameron's clearing kick is charged down, creating panic at the back.

Eventually, Bridge straightens up the breakout and Cameron successfully clears this time.

10th minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
From the scrum, Aumua charges to the line, but attempts to spread the ball go wayward. Canterbury are penalised for offside, Tasman turn down the kick at goal, Parkinson snatches a loose ball to fall over the goal-line, but the ball has gone forward.

Seventh minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Tasman attack and Hunt puts a kick through. Canterbury tidy up, but the Mako forwards turn the ball over and win a scrum in midfield on the 22.

Fourth minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
Faingaanuku makes a break up the centre of the field, passes off to Jordan, but his pass to Alaimalo is low and spilled.

Second minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 3
The Mako are caught offside at the breakdown - it's handy to the posts and Brett Cameron opens the scoring with the penalty.

First minute - Tasman 0 Canterbury 0
Canterbury kick off, Will Jordan fields and clears for Tasman.

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live updates of the Tasman vs Canterbury Mitre 10 Cup premiership semi-final in Nelson.

This is a classic 'mate vs mate' encounter, with players from these two South Island unions combined to form the champion Crusaders during the Super Rugby season.

As such, this is also a mini-trial match for the Crusaders franchise, with players going head to head for positions next season.

One particularly key match-up could come at first-five, where Tasman's Mitch Hunt, who has been back-up to Richie Mo'unga in recent seasons, will face off with upstart Cantabrian Brett Cameron, named for the All Blacks squad to take on Japan next month.

But there are plenty of other mouthwatering match-ups - check out fullbacks Will Jordan vs George Bridge. All Black Joe Moody goes up against former international teammate Wyatt Crockett and All Blacks newcomer Tyrel Lomax in the front row.

Super Rugby halfbacks Finlay Christie and Mitchell Drummond square off behind two very useful forward packs.
