Tom Sermanni has announced his first squad as coach of the Football Ferns for the OFC Women's Nations Cup in New Caledonia next month.
The Scot has included an intriguing blend of youth and inexperience among the 22-strong squad, lead by veteran Ali Riley.
Newly signed West Ham United player Ria Percival returns from the knee injury that ruled her out of the June international against Japan.
Promising youngsters Katie Rood, Sarah Morton and Emma Rolston have also been named.
"I am really pleased with the balance of this squad," said Sermanni, who was appointed to the role last week, replacing the controversial Andreas Heraf.
"We haven't had a huge amount of time to prepare, but I have been working hard behind the scenes with the guys at NZ Football… and we are confident in the group of players we have selected.
"I know most of the more experienced players well, after my time coaching both Australia and the USA, and those guys have been a huge help in completing the squad for this tournament."
The 64-year-old Sermanni's most recent role was with the Orlando Pride in the US National Women's Soccer League. He also spent time with the world-beating US women's team and the Australian Matildas.
Experienced Ferns forwards Hannah Wilkinson (knee) and Amber Hearn (knee) were not considered due to injury.
Also excluded were the players competing at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Uruguay next month, most notably goalkeeper Anna Leat and Gabi Rennie, and Aneka Mittendorff.
"I am looking forward to getting into work with these players and building towards our goal, which is to qualify for the World Cup in France," Sermanni added.
"If we are able to manage that, then we will begin to look at our goals for the World Cup."
