Issac Luke has confirmed his new one-year deal with the Warriors.

The hooker will stay at Mt Smart for the 2019 NRL season, having agreed to a reportedly heavily-reduced rate after a lengthy negotiation period.

"I have resigned with the club for one more year and hopefully get another couple years out with them," Luke wrote in a Twitter post.

"Thanks for the support during this year. My time here isn’t done YET."

The 31-year-old was also engaged in talks with the Newcastle Knights, but hopes of striking a deal broke down after news he'd require shoulder surgery and would be out of action until March.

Luke was eager to lock up his long-term future by signing a two-to-three year deal, but the Warriors were understood to be restricted by their already bulging salary cap.

The 254-game veteran was considered one of the main catalysts for the Warriors recent resurgence, helping the team to their first finals appearance since 2011.

The dynamic forward rediscovered the form that saw him become one of the NRL's premier hookers during his time with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, earning a nomination for the Dally M Hooker of the Year award.
