Former NRL star Alex McKinnon and wife Teigan have welcomed their first child.

One year after completing his dream of walking Teigan down the aisle, McKinnon unveiled daughter Harriet Anne to the world with a photo of the family on social media on Monday.

"Happy anniversary teiganmckinnon," McKinnon wrote on Instagram on Monday.

Teigan also shared the news on Instagram with several pictures.

"When 2 became 3. Harriet Anne Mckinnon. 7-10-18," she wrote.

McKinnon was a promising rugby league talent with Newcastle Knights, when he suffered a career-ending spinal injury in an NRL match in 2014 that left him quadriplegic.

He was dumped on his head in a game against the Melbourne Storm, which Kiwis Jesse and Kenny Bromwich involved in the unfotunate tackle.

Not long after waking from a coma following the accident, McKinnon proposed to Teigan, before the pair exchanged vows in an emotional wedding last year.

The 26-year-old has since blossomed in various roles across rugby league circles, including as a commentator for broadcast network Fox Sports.
