Rugby league: Greg Inglis' wife fears her husband missing after police charges

  • 02/10/2018

The wife of under-fire NRL star Greg Inglis hasn’t seen her husband since he was charged with drunk-driving and speeding on Monday evening.

On Tuesday, Inglis spoke publicly about the incident at a press conference. It's unclear whether he's yet made contact with spouse, Sally.

Just hours after being named the new captain of the Australian team, Inglis was pulled over by police as he returned to his Coogee home from an indigenous rugby league game.

Mrs Inglis said her husband wasn't answering his phone and her and their children were still awaiting his return.

"I haven't spoken to Greg," she told Australia's Daily Telegraph.

"The kids and I are still waiting for him to come home. He's not answering his phone, he's still at the game.

"I'm a bit worried because I don't know the ins and outs of what's happened."

Inglis was issued with a court attendance notice to face proceedings in Lithgow Local Court on November 22 and his licence was immediately suspended.

The NRL is reportedly conducting their own investigation and will announce any sanctions within the next 24 hours.

Test selector and former Kangaroo, Laurie Daley, has called for Inglis to be stripped of his captaincy.

"It has to change things," he told radio show Big Sports Breakfast.

"I'm pretty sure Greg and Mal (Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga) will come to the decision that he needs to step down as captain of his country.'

"He's let himself down. He's let the game down ... and he'll pay a massive price for that."
