Tongan fan covers mobility scooter in team's flags

There are rugby league fans, and then there are Tongan rugby league fans.

The Mate Ma'a faithful's love for their team knows no limits, as evidenced by one supporter who's taken her fandom to another level in the lead-in to the side's test against Australia at Mt Smart Stadium.

Tonga flags being draped out of car windows were a common sight on New Zealand roads during October's Rugby League World Cup, when the side made a fairytale run to the semi-final stages of the tournament.

This fan, captured rolling through the streets of South Auckland's Otara, has taken that approach adapted it to her mobility scooter – draping it in her beloved Tonga's distinctive red and white.

She offers a few toots of acknowledgement to the passer-by, but otherwise it's eyes on the footpath.

The clash with Australia will be the first of its kind on New Zealand soil and the Tonga fans have already come out in droves, with thousands turning out to welcome the team to Auckland on Wednesday.
