The New Zealand Youth Olympic team is headed for Buenos Aires, Argentina, but before they left, The Project co-host Josh Thompson put one of their best athletes to the test.
The former Timaru table tennis champ was pretty confident of toppling one of our youngest competitors, 14-year-old Nathan Xu, the national under-18 titleholder.
Thompson talked a good game and got off to a promising start, but he was eventually put in his place by Xu.
The 2018 Youth Olympics run from October 6-18 and New Zealand has athletes competing across 13 sports.
At the 2014 Games in China, New Zealand captured five medals.
