All Blacks vs Ireland: Flanker Dan Leavy ruled out of NZ test with injury

  • 17/11/2018

Ireland have been dealt a blow ahead of Sunday's (NZ time) test against the All Blacks, with openside flanker Dan Leavy forced to miss the match with injury.

Leavy has been sctarched due to "full body soreness" and his starting place at the Aviva Stadium has been handed to Josh van der Flier.

Jordi Murphy has been added to the bench for Joe Schmidt's side.

The loss of Leavy compounds Ireland's loose-forward woes with British and Irish Lions standout  Sean O'Brien also on the sidelines after breaking his arm against Argentina last week.

"From our point of view it doesn't affect us that much, we are replacing one quality player with another," said captain Rory Best.

"I think Josh and Dan are rather similar players. Josh will bring his game and fit in seamlessly," Best added.

Updated Ireland team to face All Blacks:

1-Cian Healy, 2-Rory Best (c), 3-Tadhg Furlong, 4-Devin Toner, 5-James Ryan, 6-Peter O'Mahony,7-Josh van der Flier, 8-CJ Stander,9-Kieran Marmion,10-Jonathan Sexton,11-Jacob Stockdale,12-Bundee Aki, 13-Garry Ringrose, 14-Keith Earls, 15-Rob Kearney

Reserves: 16-Sean Cronin, 17-Jack McGrath, 18-Andrew Porter, 19-Iain Henderson, 20-Jordi Murphy, 21-Luke McGrath, 22-Joey Carbery, 23-Jordan Larmour.
