Australian basketball superstar Andrew Bogut has savaged the NBL after reports emerged the league intends to crack down on swearing during televised timeouts.

The Sydney Kings centre gave the NBL advice on how to remedy the issue brought on by broadcasters Fox Sports and the Nine Network being granted permission to film the team talks this season.

"1st option: 5 second delay. Technology is beaut in 2018. 2nd option: Get out of timeouts. Players/coaches are fiery and emotional. (Which means they care and want to win)," Bogut posted on Twitter.

Under the new rules, players and coaches will be fined if the televised timeout huddle catches any audible swear words.

The edict will begin in the next round of ANBL matches, starting this weekend.
