Japanese daredevil Taka Higashino took his motorbike to new heights on Wednesday at Auckland's Sky Tower.

The motocross sensation dazzled onlookers as he rode his Yamaha around the outer edge of the southern hemisphere's highest structure.

"The first time around, halfway I wanted to cry, stop and jump off," said Higashino.

"The view was trippy, I was going, 'Oh my god, I can't watch'. Sometimes, watching the floor felt like a dream, not real."

"It was crazy when the wind came up. The bike was losing balance, the rope had tension too. It looks easy out there but it's actually pretty hard. It was pretty scary."

The 33-year-old is in New Zealand for the S-X open at Mt Smart Stadium, where he'll race on a makeshift track against some of the planet's best motocross riders.
