Rugby: Māori All Blacks crush USA in Chicago

The Māori All Blacks have topped off a strong weekend for New Zealand Rugby, beating the USA Eagles 59-22 at Soldier Field.

It was a dominant performance from the men in black who managed nine tries to just three from the Americans.

The New Zealanders proved far too clinical with ball in hand, opening up the US defence at will to get their tour of the Americas off to the perfect start.

The visitors claimed first blood through winger Regan Ware who scored off a short ball from Brad Weber off the scrum.

The Eagles struggled offensively early on, plagued by handling errors at critical moments.

Māori All Blacks captain Ash Dixon was in the thick of the action early on, scoring a try and creating one before being sent off for slowing the ball down in the 31st minute.

Pari Pari Parkinson was sent to the chair before the break after a dangerous tackle on halfback Shaun Davies.

After controlling the ball in the closing minutes of the first half the Eagles got their reward, winger Ryan Matyas scoring out wide from a scrum against the 13 men.

The free-flowing try-fest continued in the second-half. Māori All Blacks debutant Isaia Walker-Leawere scoring two tries in five minutes.

The Māori All Blacks will now travel to South America where they will face Brazil in Sau Paulo on Sunday 11 November at 11am (NZT).

All Black 59 ( Ware, karpik, Dixon, May, Thompson, Lowe, Stevenson, Walker-Leawere x 2 tries; Otere Black five conversions, Josh Ioane two conversions)
