A snapped goalpost has caused a 40-minute delay in an A-League football match between Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory.
The post was snapped in the tenth minute of the game at Gosford's Central Coast Stadium after Glory defender Tomislav Mrcela ran hard into the back of the Mariners goal.
Volunteers had to help the ground staff with portable training goals so the game could continue.
But because the league rules state both sets of goals have to be the same size, the posts at the other end of the ground had to be changed too.
Mariners coach Mike Mulvey said the 40-minute delay was "unacceptable."
"That was pretty unacceptable wasn't it, what happened today with the goals and having to stop for 40 minutes," Mulvey said.
"It's bad for the public of Central Coast, all the people that came out on New Year's Eve to watch the game.
"I'd like to thank all the volunteers and the staff here at the stadium that got these two portable goals and made it acceptable that we could play a game, but really it's unacceptable isn't it, in this day and age."
The night ended in misery for Mulvey's side as they lost the match 4-1 to Perth.
