All Blacks Ben Smith, Steve Hansen to reveal post-World Cup plans

The post-World Cup plans of two key All Blacks cogs could be confirmed as soon as the end of the week.

Ben Smith's agent, Warren Alcock, has told Newshub that the veteran back will announce his future on Thursday, which is expected to be a deal with French side Pau.

According to RMC Sport, the 32-year-old has reportedly signed on with the Top 14 side and will join them immediately after the Japan World Cup.

The 76-test international has scored 33 tries for the All Blacks in a glittering nine-year career, which includes two World Cup wins.

Meanwhile, Newshub understands All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen could end months of speculation over whether he'll choose to stay with the team beyond next year's tournament as soon as Friday.

The 59-year-old joined the All Blacks' coaching set-up as an assistant under Sir Graham Henry, helping guide the side to World Cup Victory in 2011.

Hansen took over as head coach in 2012 and went on to lead the side to another World Cup win in 2015.

There have been suggestions that Hansen may remain with New Zealand Rugby and move into a tailor-made role as a director of rugby.

Candidates for his replacement include current assistant coach Ian Foster and Crusaders coach Scott Robertson.
