Boxing: Tyson Fury belts out 'American Pie' after Deontay Wilder draw

  • 03/12/2018

British heavyweight Tyson Fury was determined not to let his controversial draw with Deontay Wilder get him down, encouraging media to sing a classic song with him at a post-fight press conference.

Fury defied the odds - and two tumbles to the canvas in the ninth and 12th rounds - to draw against WBC champion Wilder at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on Sunday (NZ time).

The 30-year-old was positive he'd won the fight, but that didn't dampen his spirits, as he belted out his version of Don McLean's 'American Pie'.

After standing up to sing, he encouraged trainer Ben Davison and promoter Frank Warren to do the same. Then the assembled reporters joined in by clapping and cheering.

"You all know the words!" he exclaimed. "Sing along, all together now."

The draw means Wilder remains the WBC heavyweight champion.
