NBA: Steven Adams cops 'low blow' against Chicago Bulls

Another game of basketball, another shot in the 'kiwis' for New Zealand NBA star Steven Adams.

The big NZ centre has copped a low blow in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 121-96 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Adams got off to a hot start in the first quarter, scoring nine points and grabbing six boards, before he was brought to his knees by Bulls guard Kris Dunn.

Adams has been on the receiving end of a groin shot before - Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green (twice) and Toronto Raptors forward Serge Ibaka have both caused the Kiwi grief in past seasons.

In the US, kiwis are not just flightless birds - Americans use the term to refer to kiwifruit, which is probably the more relevant use here.

Adams finished with 19 points and eight rebounds in the Thunder's big win, which was led by a 24-point night for small forward Paul George.

Russell Westbrook scored a triple-double finishing with 13 points, 11 assists and 16 rebounds.

The win is OKC's 19th this season, leaving them third in the stacked Western Conference, sandwiched between the Warriors and LeBron James' LA Lakers.
