Before the NRL Grand Final Tokoroa's Jospeh Manu and Zane Tetevano said they would take the trophy home if they won.
Today, they delivered on that promise showing it off to thousands of locals at the annual Christmas parade.
It's pretty crazy; to have the whole town turn out is really special said Manu
"It's something I'll probably never forget."
Neither will the locals.
Such was their popularity Santa took a back seat at the annual christmas parade as both Manu and Tetevano showed off the Provan-Summons Trophy to New Zealand for the first time.
"Tokoroa's a rugby league town. These guys are our guys. It's an amazing day." South Waikato Mayor Jenny Shattock said
"It does heaps for our community does heaps for our youth and gives them something to aspire to look forward to and they're great kids." local Tua Numanga said.NR
A few thousand lined the main street to catch a glimpse of Tokoroa's NRL champions.
"It's a family community and when someone succeeds it feels like everyone succeeds so it's good." Manu said
That family community part of the reason both players were keen to share their glory
"I think growing up in tokoroa you have to be humble or you'll be humbled." Manu said
Those humble beginnings have played a huge part in the pairs sporting success.
And they're aiming for more.
It might be the trophy's first time in Tokoroa but maybe not the last.
