The Wellington Phoenix have signed New Zealand international Justin Gulley for the remainder of the A-League season.

The 26-year-old, who earned three caps for the All Whites in 2018, will be available for selection against the table-topping Perth Glory on Sunday.

The fullback was briefly with the club in 2015, after spending time in the development academy, making eight appearances.

The Team Wellington skipper has a big fan in Phoenix coach Mark Rudan.

"Justin is a fantastic boy, on and off the pitch, and his attitude falls in line with the hard-working ethos we have created here at Wellington Phoenix," Rudan says.

"He's hungry to test himself on this stage again and I'm really looking forward to seeing his progression within the squad."

Gulley's move to the A-League means he will have to cut short his New Zealand Football Championship campaign, but admits the opportunity to play in Australasia's premier competition was too enticing to turn down.

"I feel I have plenty to prove, having played here before, but I really want to give my all and move on to that next level that I know I’m capable of playing at," Gulley says.

"Having played in the FIFA Club World Cup, I know I have plenty to offer the coach and the team, as I plan to return the faith shown in me.

"I can't wait to get started."

The Phoenix face stiff opposition over the next month, with the visit to Perth followed by a trip to Newcastle, before hosting the Melbourne Victory at Eden Park on February 15.
