All Blacks halfback TJ Perenara and long-time partner Greer Samuel have surprised friends and family with an earlier than expected wedding, Women's Day magazine has revealed.
Guests thought they were invited to an engagement party on January 12 in Porirua but were shocked and delighted to learn that they were attending a wedding.
The couple, who have been together for nine years, were due to get married in November after the Rugby World Cup in Japan, but they decided to bring the date forward.
Official photos of the wedding will be available to view in this week's issue of Woman's Day.
"We both have massive families, and the coordination was pretty tough," admits TJ. "And we didn't want to delay. We both looked at each other and said, 'Why don't we just have a party and then just get married?'"
After the ceremony, Perenara called it "the perfect day".
The news comes a week after All Blacks, and Hurricanes halves teammate Beauden Barrett married partner Hannah Laity got married at Hurakia Lodge on Rakino Island, in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf.
