Football: All Whites' Marco Rojas joins Danish side SønderjyskE

All Whites star Marco Rojas has found himself a new European club.

The winger has transferred to Danish Superliga side SønderjyskE on a one-year deal, parting ways with Dutch club Heerenveen.

Rojas has struggled to earn playing time at the Eredivisie team, making only five appearances so far this season.

"I'm really excited to be here," Rojas told the club's website. "I'm really looking forward to the new challenge.

"It'd been a difficult period in Holland, a lot of ups and downs, and this is a fresh start and another way to hopefully produce some footballing goods and to get a foothold in Europe."

The 27-year-old said he'd received some encouraging intel on the league from NZ teammate Winston Reid, who spent five years in Denmark prior to being snapped up by EPL club, West Ham United.

"I was aware of his relationship with this area and country. Just before I came here he reached out and we spoke a little bit. He had good things to stay about the club."

SønderjyskE currently sit 11th in the 14-team Danish competition.
