Warriors five-eighth Blake Green may have sent a scare through the club, suffering a hamstring injury in training on Tuesday.

The veteran played a huge part in turning the Warriors around last season, guiding them to their first NRL playoffs in seven years.

But with the departure of halves partner Shaun Johnson to Cronulla, his experience may be even more crucial to the Auckland-based outfit this year, with his running mate likely to have little or no first-grade credentials.

Johnson's replacement seems likely to come from new recruit Adam Keighran, or junior players Chanel Harris-Tavita and Hayze Perham.

Nine's Wide World of Sports is reporting Green's injury does not seem serious, but may keep him out of pre-season games against Melbourne Storm (February 22) and Wests Tigers (March 2).

The Warriors open their NRL schedule against Canterbury Bulldogs at Mt Smart Stadium on March 16.
