Super Rugby 2019: Blues back Melani Nanai signs with Worcester

Blues winger Melani Nanai has signed on to play for Worcester Warriors in the England rugby premiership next season.

The exciting utility back helped Auckland to the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup title, and has made 48 Super Rugby appearances and scored 16 tries for the Blues, fronting on the wing in last Saturday's season-opener against the Crusaders at Eden Park.

"I know a couple of players at Worcester Warriors and have only heard good things," says Nanai. "I am excited about meeting the team and working with the coaching staff at the club."

Nanai, 25, will join fellow NZ players Michael Fatialofa and Bryce Heem at the Warriors, who lie second-to-last on the premiership table, with four wins from 13 games. Former Northland halfback Jono Kitto has also signed for next season.

"The X-factor [Nanai] brings will be invaluable to us," says Worcester director of rugby Alan Solomons. "Our supporters are in for a real treat next season."
