Super Rugby 2019: Ryan Crotty rested for Crusaders clash with the Reds

All Blacks midfielder Ryan Crotty has been rested for the Crusaders' trip to Queensland.

The 30-year-old will stay at home as part of the national selectors' recovery programme.

Despite five changes to the starting lineup, the Crusaders have named an imposing side looking to maintain their 100 per cent record on Saturday night against the Reds.

Tim Bateman replaces Crotty in the number 12 jersey while Mitchell Drummond gets his first start of the season at halfback with Bryn Hall named on the bench.

Exciting Tasman flyer Will Jordan replaces David Havilli at fullback while Braydon Ennor returns to the top XV with Manasa Mataele injured.

Ennor was the standout for the Crusaders playing at centre in the opening game of the season against the Blues.

Tom Sanders is the only new face in the forward pack meaning a shift to the bench for Jordan Taufua.

The Reds were impressive in their first game of 2019 in a losing effort against the Highlanders last weekend.
