Super Rugby: Blues impress in pre-season win over Hurricanes

The Blues have finished their pre-season campaign with a close 38-31 win over rivals Hurricanes in Mangatainoka.

The host got off to a fast start taking a 14-0 lead with tries from lock James Blackwell and former Blues winger Ben Lam.

The Auckland side hit back through hooker Leni Apisai and flanker Hoskins Sotutu to level the score at 14 all heading into the break.

Winger Malani Nanai scored a second-half double and Ma'a Nonu scored one of his own as the Blues made it two from two after thrashing the Chiefs 43-10 last week.

The Blues will open their Super Rugby account at home against the Crusaders on Saturday February 16.

The Hurricanes will travel to Sydney where they will face the Waratahs on Saturday.
