Tottenham Hotpsur have confirmed their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday (NZ time).

The English side went into the second leg of their tie against the Germans with a 3-0 advantage that they duly extended, courtesy of Kane's 48th minute strike.

The result clinched a 4-0 aggregate win.

Also confirming their place in the final eight was Dutch side Ajax, after they demolished Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid 4-1 at the Bernabeu.

Ajax scored twice in the first half through Hakim Ziyech and David Neres, while Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schone netted after the break to wrap up a 5-3 aggregate win over Madrid, who had won the past three Champions League titles.
