Biography:

After starring for Pakistan at the U-19 World Cup, Azam was rushed into the ODI squad and made his presence immediately felt with the bat.

Through his first 25 matches, he stamped himself as a star of the future by becoming the fastest player in history to each 1,000 ODO runs, breaking the mark set by India's Virat Kohli.

He reeled off centuries at a prodigious rate, setting a record for the fewest innings required to reach seven ODI hundreds (33).

Azam has been even more prominent in the Twenty20 arena, smashing records on his way to the top of the ICC's world rankings for T20 batsmen.

Now seventh among ODI batsmen, he'll be looking to guide Pakistan to their second World Cup triumph.
