Versatile forward Tai Wesley is returning to Melbourne to join NBL newcomers South East Melbourne Phoenix.
The club, which will join the competition next season, has signed Wesley on a three-year deal (club option final year).
Wesley is a two-time champion, winning the title in 2018 playing with Melbourne United, and spent the past season with the New Zealand Breakers.
His good form continued there, recording career highs in scoring (14.4 points) and assists (3.5) averages.
"Tai has come off another great NBL season," Phoenix head coach Simon Mitchell said.
"He is a player you want in the trenches. We saw, in the playoffs this year, the importance of toughness - guys with a little steel, who are prepared to make a stand and set the tone."
Wesley's signing follows the news that boom marquee recruit Mitch Creek has signed a third 10-day contract in the NBA, this time with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Phoenix's roster for the 2019/20 season now stands at four players, with Wesley to join Creek, Ben Magden and Chima Moneke.
But it remains to be seen if Creek will play in the NBL again, with his Phoenix deal including an NBA-out clause.
Wesley is playing for Puerto Rico club Brujos de Guayama during the NBL off- season.
