Blake Green has been named at halfback for the NZ Warriors' sixth-round NRL clash against North Queensland.

The 32-year-old pulled up lame just minutes before kick-off against South Sydney last weekend, but his groin has responded well to treatment and he should take part against the Cowboys.

Green has a further three days to prove his fitness and be reunited with rookie standoff Chanel Harris-Tavita.

Hooker Nathaniel Roache should also return to action after a month-long absence.

Roache was impressive against the Bulldogs in the opening round 40-6 win, but suffered a leg injury before the round-two match against the Wests Tigers.

Young utility back Patrick Herbert has been named on the extended bench to provide backs cover for Green, should he be unavailable.

The Cowboys have lost four straight, since topping the St George Dragons in round one.

They have been soundly beaten by the Broncos, Sharks and Raiders, before falling just short against the Melbourne Storm, 18-12, last weekend.

The Warriors, unbeaten in Auckland this year, hope to score their third win of the season.
