Singapore Sevens: New Zealand breeze through pool play unbeaten

The All Blacks Sevens will face Fiji in the quarter-finals of the Singapore sevens after topping their Pool on Saturday.

New Zealand claimed big wins over Japan and Spain while scraping past Samoa in the final group match.

In the 26-22 win over Sir Gordon Tietjens' side Regan Ware scored a double and Tim Mikkelson and Akuila Rokolisoa scored one each. 

Earlier, Ware and Andrew Knewstubb scored two tries each, with Jona Nareki, Kurt Baker, and Jo Ravouvou all crossing the line for a try apiece in the 43-0 opening romp over Japan.

Later on Saturday, they pounded Spain 53-0 to avenge a shock loss to the European upstarts at Las Vegas last month.

Akuila Rokolisoa scored a brace of tries, with seven others crossing the line.

New Zealand's quarter-final opponents Fiji reached the final eight. despite only winning one of their Pool games.

After crushing Canada 50-19, Fiji went onto lose to Scotland 19-12 and South Africa 17-7, and ended up advancing with a better points differential along with the Blitzboks.

The other quarter-final matches see South Africa face Samoa, USA face Argentina and Australia face England.

New Zealand's match kicks-off at 4:14pm.
