Casey Kopua's domestic netball career has come to an end with the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic's 60-48 defeat to the Mainland Tactix in Christchurch.

The win was the Tactix's biggest of the season, as Silver Ferns coach Noeline Taurua watched from the stands before Thursday's World Cup squad naming.

Kopua picked up just one intercept in her 187th and last game for the Magic, after 17 seasons.

Despite the loss, the 33-year-old was hopeful this wasn't the end of her career just yet, as she hopes to be included in Taurua's 12-player squad.

"It would be everything [to play in another World Cup]," she told Sky Sports. "I want to prove to myself and to my family that I deserve to be there, and then I want to have one last chance at winning,"

The Tactix dominated the match from the outset and raced out to a 31-20 lead at halftime.

In the final quarter, the Magic managed to close the gap to eight goals, but the Tactix were too strong in the end.

Ellie Bird led the Tactix with 42 goals from 46 attempts, while teammate Kate Beveridge landed 18 of her 25 attempts.

The result means both teams finished the season with five wins and 10 losses, but the Magic finish higher in the standings, due to a superior goal percentage.
