Canoe: Lisa Carrington collects two more gold medals at World Cup

Olympic champion Lisa Carrington has continued her dominance of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup at Poznan, Poland, snatching two more gold medals overnight.

Carrington opened her account on Sunday (NZT) with victory in the K1 200m, finishing more than a boat length clear to extend her seven-year unbeaten record in the event.

On Monday, she returned to the water, powering clear of the K1 500m field to record 1m 47.839s, almost 2.5s ahead of Belarusian Volha Khudzenka.

"Today was just about practising what I've been doing in training and really preparing for world champs," said Carrington. "The conditions are tricky, but we're an outdoor sport."

Carrington later joined Kayla Imrie, Aimee Fisher and Caitlin Ryan for victory in the K4 500m, trailling France and Germany early, before gathering momentum in the closing stages. Their 1m 31.543s was eight-tenths of a second clear of the French.

"It was a race that meant a lot to us," said Ryan afterwards. "We've all had a really big weekend, trying new things and taking some learnings.

"To come back and put some real emphasis on that K4 was pretty cool - I'm pretty sure we're all very proud."
