Super Rugby Tipping Comp: Ross Karl grabs massive lead over Newshub tipsters

There's a reason Ross Karl is Newshub rugby editor - he sees things that others don't out on the field.

That innate analytical ability has seen him swoop to the top of the Newshub Super Rugby tipping comp, with a massive 12-point advantage over his closest pursuer.

It guided him to a flawless performance in last week's round, making Karl the only tipster to successfully pick four correct results and margins for the NZ sides on display. That's a huge 17-points haul.

And that astute judgment again sees him standing out from the crowd with this week's predictions - he's the only one opting for a big Hurricanes win over the Jaguares and just a narrow Crusaders victory over the Stormers.

Let's see where that gets him.

"I think I've earned a little leeway this week," he winks.

While only seven points cover the other four competitors on the table, Karl has stamped his dominance by simply picking the most winners and the most margins correctly.

That may seem a simple formula, but we've seen how dramatically fortunes can change this season. Will we see another big swing, with four more games this week?

The rules are simple:

Pick the winner and margin of any Super Rugby game involving a New Zealand franchise, with points awarded in the following manner:

Pick the winner and margin (13-plus or 12-under) = three points.

Pick the winner only = one point.

Pick all results correctly including margin: five bonus points.

Super Rugby week 13:

Hurricanes v Jaguares, Blues v Chiefs, Highlanders v Lions, Crusaders v Stormers

*Margin is based on the classic 12-under or 13-plus format.
