UFC: Michel Pereira punishes Danny Roberts with sensational KO in debut

  • 19/05/2019

Brazilian fighter Michel Pereira capped off a remarkable UFC middleweight debut with a sensational knockout against veteran Brit Danny Roberts on Sunday (NZ time).

During the first round of their bout at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York, Pereira jumped into the air and hit Roberts with a picture-perfect flying knee before a thunderous right hand sent his opponent straight to the canvas.

The fight was all over after just 1m 47s, but the crowd were in awe over what they'd just witnessed.

The result marks the second professional win in a row for Pereira, and his 22nd overall from 31 completed fights in mixed martial arts.

Before the fight, the 25-year-old was in tears as he walked to the octagon, then he put on a breakdancing display as he was introduced to the crowd.

"I've had better fights than this," Pereira said after the fight.

"I fought very little in there. I couldn't even show half of my skills. I still have a lot of fantastic moves to show the UFC fans."
