Cricket World Cup 2019: Blackcaps allay injury concern over Martin Guptill

The Blackcaps have allayed an initial injury concern over opening batsman Martin Guptill following their five run win over the West Indies.

He seemed to be in some discomfort after running in the outfield in the final over of the match.

Guptill ran over to congratulate Boult after he took the match-winning catch before he started to skip - favouring his right side. He then started to limp over to his other teammates, showing obvious signs of irritation.

A New Zealand cricket spokesperson told Newshub Guptill didn't require treatment after the game.

The 32-year-old has had his fair share of injuries in recent years; a hamstring injury ruled him out of the start of the series against South Africa in early 2017.

He also missed the Blackcaps tour of the UAE after tearing a calf muscle in October last year.

The Blackcaps will give an update of Guptill's condition on Monday NZT.
