Cricket World Cup 2019: Possible changes looming for Blackcaps against Pakistan

Former Blackcaps opener and AM Show sports host Mark Richardson has foreshadowed a change in the Blackcaps line-up to face Pakistan in Wednesday's crucial Cricket World Cup clash.

New Zealand are currently unbeaten at the tournament and could clinch a semi-final spot with victory over their World Cup nemesis.

But Richardson believes they may need to change their winning line-up, starting with bowler Matt Henry, who was plundered for 25 runs in his final over, as the West Indies almost stole victory on Sunday.

"At some stage, we are going to have to defend in those 'death' stages against better sides, when they get to the semi-finals," says Richardson, a Sky Sport commentator.

"[Henry] has shown cracks there. Tim Southee, if he was to come into the side, has experience… you've got an older head and another guy who has been hit around at the death.

"Being able to stem the bleeding when you're getting hit is vitally important, and maybe Tim Southee has more experience and a better track record."

But Richardson warns that coach Gary Stead and captain Kane Williamson will be reluctant to change their winning combinations.
