Cricket World Cup 2019: Weather clearing for Blackcaps v Pakistan

The weather looks to be coming to the party in Birmingham, where the Blackcaps are preparing to take on Pakistan in a Cricket World Cup clash overnight (NZT).

Sodden by a deluge of rain on Tuesday, the Edgbaston ground is reportedly draining well and while conditions overhead are grey, the local forecast predicts that low cloud should burn off and make way for excellent playing conditions.

Usurped by Australia after their win over England, New Zealand can reclaim the top of the standings with victory over Pakistan, who have proven a thorn in their side at previous tournaments.

And their opponents' backs will be against the wall, needing to win at least two of their next three games to qualify for the semi-finals.
