Netball: Maria Folau leads Silver Ferns past Fiji

The Silver Ferns have thrashed the Fiji Pearls 88-30 in their Cadbury Netball Series match to set up a final showdown with the NZ men.

Defenders Casey Kopua and Jane Watson continued to strengthen their partnership at the back, claiming eight interceptions between them to help guide their side to the convincing win.

Maria Folau starred for the Kiwis, shooting a game-high 40 from 43 - at 93 per cent.

The Ferns shot out to a great start with crisp passing and early intercepts to take a 20-8 lead to the first break.

Kopua led the way for the Kiwis - creating havoc in the Fijian shooting circle as the Ferns lead 43-19 at half-time.

While New Zealand continued to dominate throughout the third frame - Fiji showed moments of class to the crowd packing out Pulman Arean in Takanini.

The final quarter saw the Ferns increase their lead to top off their victory - rounding off a classy performance.

The win sets up another clash between the Ferns and the NZ men's side in the final on Saturday at 4 pm.

Earlier, the New Zealand men's team beat the All-Stars 59-44 to keep their unbeaten run going.
