The All Blacks Sevens have gone through pool play unbeaten at the Paris Sevens.

They started the day with a 14-12 win over Scotland, which they backed up with a 31-14 romp over Japan, before rounding out the schedule with a 17-10 win over France.

They had to come from behind in all three games and now face Argentina in the quarter-finals at 10:26pm Sunday (NZT).

Jean Pascal Barraque had France ahead early in their final encounter of the day, but tries to Scott Curry, Sione Molia and Regan Ware carried New Zealand clear, before Barraque scored his second near the end.

The result avenged the All Blacks' quarter-finals loss to the French in London last week.

The Kiwis got out to an early 7-0 lead against Japan, thanks to Jona Nareki scoring in the opening minutes.

Japan scored twice through Michael Toloke and Naoki Motomura to lead 14-7, before Regan Ware got the men in black to within two points on the verge of half-time with a try in the corner.

Nareki had his second just after the break to take the lead to 17-14.

Andrew Knewstubb sealed the deal after the full-time hooting, beating the Japanese defenders with a lovely piece of skill to take his side to the top of Pool D with one game left.

Earlier, they scored a late try to beat Scotland 14-12 in their opening match at the Paris sevens.

Regan Ware scored the opener in the fifth minute, before Alec Coombes levelled the scores at 7-7 just after half-time.

Glenn Bryce took the lead for the Scots, scoring in the 11th minute.

Trailing by five, the Kiwis rallied to score a late try through Jona Nareki, with Andrew Knewstubb slotting the conversion to complete the two-point victory.
