The Hurricanes have recalled their big-name players for their sudden-death Super Rugby quarter-final clash against the Bulls at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.

After fielding a virtual second-string side in the win over the Blues last weekend, John Plumtree has made nine changes to his team, with a host of All Blacks returning to the starting side.

TJ Perenara and Beauden Barrett will play their 100th game together in front of their home fans, after being named in the nine and 10 jersey respectively.

The match will be halfback Perenara's 126th game for the Hurricanes, which equals the club record jointly held by Ma'a Nonu and Conrad Smith.

Other changes in the backline see Ngani Laumape named at second-five and Jordie Barrett at fullback while Wes Goosen returns on the wing, after recovering from a hamstring strain.

Two changes in the front row mean vastly experienced props Toby Smith and Jeff To'omaga-Allen return after a week off to combine with Dane Coles at hooker.

James Blackwell comes into the second row alongside Isaia Walker-Leawere at lock, with Ardie Savea slotting in at openside flanker.

Plumtree said there was growing excitement within the squad, as they looked towards potentially their last home match of the season.

"I thought the whole squad got a real lift from the way our young side performed last week and that energy has started to really show through.

"We all worked really hard to earn a home playoff game, and we can't wait to get out in front of our fans and meet the massive challenge the Bulls will bring."

The Hurricanes have won three of their last four Super Rugby matches against the Bulls.
