FOOTBALL FERNS 1-2 CAMEROON

6:05am - Sadly, it wasn't meant to be for the Kiwis. For a match wrap and highlights, click here.

FULLTIME - The game is over and the Football Ferns' World Cup is over. For the second time, they conceed late to lose.

90+4mins - GOAL CAMEROON - Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow Ajara Nchout scores her second with the last kick of the game and Cameroon win and will go through to the next round.

90+3mins - New Zealand throw all their players uplead as Erin Nayler launches a free kick into the box which doesn't pay off. That is probably their last chance.

90mins - Five minutes of added time to be played. This will be tense.

87mins - Chance heads off for Longo.

85mins - Oliva Chance fires a shot over the post. Too complacent from the Kiwis at that moment.

82mins - If New Zealand can find another goal in these closing stages then they'll be through to the knockout stages.

79mins - GOAL NEW ZEALAND - The Football Ferns are on the scoreboard, but it wasn't a Kiwi player who scored. Aurelle Awona deflected the ball into the Cameroon net to level the scores.

77mins - Another player is down injured so play has stopped for the moment

73mins - Becky Hassett has her hedder saved by Annette Ngo Ndom. The Cameroon keeper had to save that, because the ball was going in.

70mins - Now twenty minutes remain. The message is still the same for New Zealand. They have to score twice.

68mins - New Zealand pick up their first yellow card of the entire tournament as Anna Green goes in the book.

65mins - Another New Zealand corner is cleared by Cameroon.

64mins - Cameroon should have scored their second, but three magical saves by Erin Nayler prevented them from scoring.

62mins - Sarah Gregorius has New Zealand's best chance of the game, but her header goes wide of the mark.

60mins - Thirty minutes remain, and New Zealand need to score twice now to go through to the round of 16. They haven't scored at this World Cup, they have never won a World Cup game.

57mins - GOAL CAMEROON - The African nation get the breakthrough they deserve and Ajara Nchout is the scorer. A great finish by the midfielder.

53mins - Onguene's shot is cleared by  Rebekah Stott, but the Kiwi defender is called for a foul.

51mins - Cameroon continue to push for that goal, but New Zealand keep them out.

48mins - Estelle Johnson makes a great run and desperate defence from Ali Riley
prevents a shot, but the ball goes out for a corner.

45mins - The second half starts and within seconds, Cameroon steal the ball and shoot at goal.

HALFTIME - Both team will be happy that half of football is over. It was rather dull with very few oporunitties. Cameroon have had six shots, while New Zealand have had one.

45mins - Three minuts of added time. New Zealand create another chance which comes to nothing in the end.

42mins - New Zealand sent in a high long-range free kick and Annette Ngo Ndom soars through the air to catch the kick.

41mins - The Fooball Ferns are starting to create oportunities, but they can't get the last pass away or anything which is preventing them from hitting the target.

39mins - New Zealand have their first attempt of the game, with Ria Percival taking a long range shot.

37mins - Cameroon clear the ball an Augustine Ejangue goes time. Play stops as it was a head injury.

36mins - Great chance here for New Zealand who have their first corner coming up.

34mins - Free kick coming up for Cameroon.

33mins - Cameroon have been the more threatening of the two sides, and New Zealand need to work out a way to score a goal. More importantly, get a shot would be good.

30mins - Nayler and Onguene are  both down and the other players are having a drinks break.

29mins - Another great through ball from Cameroon as Gabrielle Onguene runs around the New Zealand defenders, but Erin Nayler puts her body on the line to get to the ball.

27mins - Ditto from my 19th minute comments, but Ria Percival misses the ball from the Sarah Gregorius cross.

26mins - The ball gets into the penalty box, but Cameroon manage to clear.

25mins - Just past the halfway point in the first half, Cameroon have had four shot son goal, while New Zealand have had zero. Not good in a game where they must score. They have an attacking free kick coming up though.

22mins - Now Chance is down as the medical staff check her over. She has been struggling in this match, but she will carry on.

21mins - Olivia Chance has another chance in the box, but can't convert. She tries to beat the Cameroon defenders, and the ball then deflects up onto her hand.

19mins - Then moments later, New Zealand miss a golden chance to score as Olivia Chance can't get her foot on the ball and if she did, the ball would have gone in the goal.

18mins - Gabrielle Onguene gets into space and she attemps to chip the ball over Erin Nayler and the Kiwi keeper gets her hands to the ball and manages to prevent the ball from going in.

14mins - Cameroon have a corner kick, and luckily the Football Ferns clear the ball. Then one of the Cameroon defenders tries a long-range shot which goes well wide.

12mins - First real shot of the game goes to Cameroon as Gabrielle Onguene tries to curl the ball past Erin Nayler, but it goes wide of the right hand post.

10mins - Ria Percival puts in a great through ball for Olivia Chance to chase, but the ball goes into touch.

8mins - Rosie White crosses the ball into the box, but the ball gos straight into the gloves of Annette Ngo Ndom.

7mins - New Zealand go back on the attack, as Olivia Chance looks for a cross, but great defence by Estelle Johnson prevents that from happening.

6mins - Cameroon get a shot on goal, but it is defelcetd by Ali Riley. However, the play is called back for offside.

3mins - New Zealand get the ball in a good attacking position, but can't convert on their field possession.

2mins - Cameroon throw the ball forward, but the ball goes into play. Just a few minutes in, and the African nation look strong.

KICKOFF - We are underway in France. Cameroon get the match underway.

3:54am - Both teams are out on the field.

3:52am - Cameroon lost 1-0 to Canada and 3-1 to the Netherlands, while New Zealand were beaten 1-0 by the Dutch and 2-0 against the North Americans.

3:30am - New Zealand have made a couple of changes to their starting team. Anna Green will start at centre back in place of CJ Bott, while Kate Duncan starts in place of Katie Bowen.

Kia ora, good morning and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Football Ferns' final World Cup pool game against Cameroon in Montpellier, France.

After losses in their previous outings, the NZ women can still qualify for the knockout stages for the first time, if they beat the Africans. The equation is not as simple as that, but victory would at least keep those hopes alive.

They will advance if they:

a) win by two goals

b) win by one goal, while scoring at least three

c) win 2-1, without incurring nine fairplay penalty point

d) win 1-0 and Chile don't beat Thailand by three goals or more

After a promising performance against the Netherlands in their tournament opener - an added-time 1-0 loss to European champions the Netherlands - the Kiwis were somewhat disappointing in a 2-0 loss to Canada. Both those teams were ranked in the world's top eight teams - New Zealand are 19th - so those results weren't unexpected.

By contrast, Cameroon are ranked 46th, so this looms as a very winnable game for the Ferns, who beat the same opponents 3-1 at the London Olympics, also for spot in the next stage.

Cameroon lost only 1-0 to Canada and 3-1 to the Dutch, and have the added satisfaction of scoring against the latter. New Zealand have yet to find the back of the net, although they found the woodwork against the Netherlands.

The Football Ferns will be without at least two starting players, with Meikayla Moore suffering an Achilles tendon injury before their opener and CJ Bott breaking a wrist against Canada.

Join us at 4am Friday for kick-off between New Zealand and Cameroon.
